My MiniChinese Bunsbuns

Yes I had a "Bakefest" at home tonight...Since I was home early, I decided to make something yummy for my family to eat as a dessert or something. Since I'm never "home"...So I made minichinese buns. Tonight is my second attempt. I made it earlier a couple days ago and it was hard, not enough kneading...However, tonight I just got compliments tonight from both my parents and it was soft, moist and yummy. Made from scratch, no breadmaker either=)

Oh baby, I'm on a roll...

Now that I got your attention...hahaha...I've gone to the gym three days in a row now.

Monday- Free weights (arms only) & Cardio
Tuesday- weights only (arms & legs)
Wednesday- Spin Class a.k.a. Cycling

Today's class was brutal. My coworker and I went for the "spin class"...I thought it'd be a good idea. My coworker does level three, I guess she's use to it. She said she's seen me do my cardio on the treadmill, etc... so I shouldn't have a problem. Stupid me, instead of starting at level I, I start at the advance level III. I almost DIED... 55 minutes of continuous cycling w/ tension. There were times where we were told to increase the tension, heavy sitting, standing, up hill, etc... I was surprised I could last that long cycling w/ 40% tension. I couldn't do all the up hill for the full 55 minutes but I was able to keep a steady pace throughout the whole session. I will do it again to build my muscles...but right now, I'm SORE!! I was sweating too...Yay! burn more calories...hahaha...

After the class, took a long long shower then, headed to prayer night. Tonight was the last study on Psalms...It was a nice group tonight, great time to get to know one another and have fellowship together.

Movie "Driving Miss Wealthy"

Earlier tonight I watched a Chinese movie on CFMT called "Driving Miss Wealthy." I personally enjoyed it. This movie talks about a young woman who lives in a mansion and has servants that does everything for her. She was so spoiled, never drove in her life, doesn't know her left from right...Her father hires this guy as her driver to see what she does all day and how much she spends...man, can she spend. One million a day. After the driver reports this to her father, he cuts her from any funding and pretends to have a heart attack and she gets kicked out. Leaving her w/o money, or clothes. The maid gives her keys though to her father's first house, well an apartment. Very shabby looking, w/ rats, run down. She quickly learns to fend for herself w/ the help of the "bodyguard" and makes money. She turns a "slimdown" pill bottle company into a profitable company and learns to cook, clean and take care of herself; as well as, the "bodyguard" when he was ill. Moving along...when her father thinks she has learned the value of money, they decide to send her home, but before he was able to, he really does have a heart attack. The "bodyguard" a.k.a. Jack Chan tells her that this was all a game but her father now is seriously ill. After finding out this truth, she becomes angry even after her father recovers. She realizes she's in love w/ Jack so her father hires him once again, to play a father, husband to a woman and child. It was quite convincing but she figured out that he was just also acting. Even though she lives in the mansion she'd go back to the shabby apt and cooked and cleaned for herself. While she was there, Jack remained behind the door just watching her. When she left, he appeared and found a piece of writing by her father back in the 60's. Basically, it said, "Don't give up! If you do, you'll never succeed or something." Can't remember the exact quote but it was similar to that. Anywayz, he persues her and finds her in Japan and Jack was hired forever as her bodyguard. It was kinda romantic..I mean he was there for her every step of the way.

Start of the Weekend

Yay it's Friday! I survived another week. Thanks for those that have been praying for me as I recover from my illness. I am feeling much better than last week.

Today was a busy day at work and busy evening. I had to go to the bank during lunch today, so I walked over to CIBC, yes I did have an umbrella w/ me. Then one of my gf's called me and we chatted for a bit about weekend plans...for once, I'm not sure what I want to do. I've been asked to go to different places, but for some reason my heart's not really into it right now. One of the topics, us ladies chatted about was dating...how do you define dating? To my friend, it's when you spend time w/ someone of the opposite sex, getting to know them, one-on-one whether it's coffee, or dinner or movie, etc...I was kinda shocked when I heard that b/c I do that quite often but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm dating that person right? I explained that dating is holding hands, kinda going exclusive. Anywayz, I guess everyone's interpretation is different. On to the good stuff...the evening=)

As I'm getting ready to leave for Daniel's farewell Dindin, one of my friend's dropped by to give me something for my cough...It's starting to work, I do notice some differences but it'll be a couple days before others will notice it. I drove LL to dindin tonight in oakville and then the whole gang went for BBTea...I love my mango ice crush=) On my way there, my cell rang and I answered it but I really shouldn't because I am driving. The first call wasn't that long so it was ok, but the second call from one of my new buds, I received was seconds apart from the first convo. The problem was that I was soooo focused on the convo that I kinda ran a red light=( I hope there is no red light camera there. Not good idea to be running red lights on Dundas Hype Park Blvd., as it's a busy intersection. It's an accident waiting to happen. Luckily, nothing was damaged... For dinner we went to Summit Garden, good food, but too much food. I've been there for work and for personal as well. A bit expensive but tonight's dinner was a good price.

Daniel, you will be missed. Although you were only w/ us for a short time, you have contributed a lot to our fellowship and to our friendships. It's been great knowing you, please come back and visit. I don't really want to say goodbye because it's so sad, rather, until we meet again=) We will take care of Si for you too=)

Saturday...

Great day today...

Went to sleep technically this morning at 2am, my bad...I was chatting on msn to a friend til 1:30am but then finished watching "Emma" on CBC w/ Gyweneth Paltrow. It was a good movie. Got up this morning at 8am and baked some strawberry fruit tarts and dumplings.

Spent the afternoon in Hamilton chatting w/ BT, an old friend that I honestly haven't seen in a long time. It was he who reminded me it's been seven years since we first met. I was like "wow!" so long ago...makes me feel soooooooo old. Then I realize it makes sense, I was just starting post-secondary at the time and he was either 3rd or 4th year at the time. Anywayz, it was a good chat about the good ol' days, a lot of which I've forgotten. The direction of where his life is leading...Life is hard for him right now and his significant other who is so far away...in OT. Surprisingly, Tim Horton's didn't kick us out...I've seen signs posted for 20minutes seating, while we were there chatting away for almost three hours. I guess there is a lot to say, I mean two years has passed... a lot has changed since then.

Earlier this evening, I went to Chris's house for a BBQ. It was nice...good friends, good food, what else can you ask for? I became hostess at the house, greeted people at the door, ushered them in and gave people a tour of the house as well...Fun!! K, I really didn't know everyone coming into the house, I just introduced myself and others as they came in. I knew maybe half either through previous gatherings or other "group" of friends. It really was...thxs to Oli for eating the other half of the burger and others for sharing w/ me half the food...especially desserts...thxs bud! I played Halo 2 and I think my character killed Marc's character...I think...can Dave or Oli confirm? I've played different games on XBox in the past...

My Friday Nite

Yes yes...I bailed out on the dinner/movie nite @ Elaine's....Sorry, gf! I spent time w/ family tonight as I won't be spending much time w/ them this weekend. Made dumplings together w/ my mom and ate dinner at home tonight...The first time, well second time this week. Besides, I've been coughing lately, so I'm trying to take it easy...which also means no gym for me=(
I also managed to check email and also cancel the hike that I had originally planned for tomorrow afternoon before the BBQ in Burlington. I verbally cancelled the hike but did not send an actual email til this evening...my bad...I forgot. I do hope to get a chance to go hiking again in the Fall. Just that something unexpected has happened.

Lunch at Milestone's

Every once in awhile, my boss treats the team to a lunch to say a job well done. On Tuesday, our team went to Milestone's...Of course, as price is not an issue as the boss is treating, you order anything. Since, I don't drink at all anymore, I compensated the cost by ordering a Salad...I ordered a Seafood salad, cost $18.99. It was as expensive as Collin's entree which was salmon w/ mashed potatoes, and veggies or the ladies Beef penne. Of course, to finish it off, I had a slice of yummmmmmmmm...white chocolate cheesecake w/ a side of pecans...Oh yum...The waiter asked you want what? I said, "a pecan"...He said, "just one?" Well, it doesn't come w/ pecans but I'll give you a side order of pecans... I just thought it was sweet. My favorite...CHEESECAKE!!

When I went back to the office, I forgot about the surprise wedding showers/baby shower...which meant more cake...CHOCOLATE Cake....too rich...couldn't eat it at all.
Anyways, I was soooo full, I didn't eat dinner.

Wonderful Weekend

Wow, can't believe the weekend's over...Where did it go? What did I go again?

Friday nite: Got invite to go to a friend's friend Church in Richmond Hill for their outreach/praise night. Despite the traffic on the 4o1, I left my car at a friend's house in Sauga and took my brother's car. Basically, it was the HCCF reunion. It was a fun night followed by Hot pot on Leslie/Hwy7. By the time I got home it was about 2am but I still wanted to check my emails.

Saturday: Went to the MCAC bbq/picnic. That was a success. Everyone had lots of fun and sooooooooo much food. Glad to see my friends at this picnic...thxs for coming. After the picnic, I went to retrieve my car then went over to Elaine's and watched a good romantic comedy "50 First Dates." I really enjoyed the movie. Trying to impress/win her over.
Later that evening, Elaine, Alana, Oli and I were at Xara's praise nite "Constant." I was really moved by the two testimonies and their worship music. I was crying too...There were a few people who accepted Christ that night...so for that we praise God!! God is Good.

Sunday: Went to Church, then to our usual lunch but a little problem w/ that. I went and picked up Grace and headed to the restaurant...I realized, "hey, we're the first ones here, there's no way!" so I decided to call...only Dave picked up his cell. Apparently, I went to the wrong restaurant...how embarassing=( After lunch, Grace and I went to Yorkdale Mall and shopped around...We also sat down and talked, got to know her better. I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to get to know her better. Yes, I also drove her there too...That's right, me on the 401 and parked my car too. After, our day out, I went over to a friend's house for dinner, along w/ some others and had a good chat.

Weekend was great overall, it made me forget about work=) Unfortunately, I was not home once during the weekend to eat any meal at home...Perhaps next week=)

Cool Day Saturday...

It's been an interesting day today...I went over to Leevin's place to wait for Dan and Si for our mini-adventure. Si and I convinced the Boyz to do something less strenuous and outdoors. We narrowed it down to picking yellow plums or RBG (Royal Botanical Gardens)...Of course, the girlz won and RBG it was. Towards the end of our adventure, we encountered an old man who was feeding the birds and chipmunks. Dan spoke to him and he said he's been feeding them twice a week for nineteen years even during the winter. The old man gave all of us handfuls of sunflower seeds and black seeds to feed them. Chipmunks even came up to my hand and ate directly out of my palm. (Shocking isn't it!!) It's true too!! Pics to follow.

For those that have never been to the RBG, it's a nice place to go. Lots of plants, flowers from all over the world more or less...After seeing the different gardens, our gang headed back for munchies and other light snacks. Our gang met up w/ Helen and decided to go to Milestone's for dindin, followed by a short walk after at the waterfront. It was the lsat time to see Si before she went back to China. Then I drove the Sauga gang back to their cars at Milestone's.

The Cottage

Okay, so I'm one of the last ones to blog about the cottage...Yes, lots of stories floating around. Things I learned, so much to share, but where to start?

On Friday nite, Dave, Marc and I got into Elaine's car and headed out to Jen/Jul's cottage. We had so much luggage that I was trapped in the backseat w/ luggage on my lap and eggs in between myself and Marc. Yes, there's footage on the photo album. I'd like to say, I did pack light, it was the food that we were carrying that took up a lot of room. Picture this...Five, 18Ltrs of Water Jugs and food for twelve people, as well as, everyone's luggage. Anywayz, our group met up at Timmy's in Bowanville and had dinner and headed back on the road. I believe the groups arrived shortly after 11ish. Just in time for star gazing. It was my first time to see shooting stars. Stories are told to make a wish when you see a shooting star and it will come true. I think someone mentioned, oh, if you see a shooting star w/ someone else, they're your new BFF.

Onto Saturday now...The Boyz were nice enough to set up a tent for us ladies (Elaine&I) so we could sleep outside w/ Oli&Cliff in the tent next to us. Well, I am a light sleeper after all, which meant I got up at 6am thanks to the crows and bullfrogs. We did Bible Study and Bible Jep today and helped Jen/Jul build their porch. Although, I wasn't that helpful w/ the physical labour, I compensated w/ preparing meals and snacks=) A lot of us took a swim, did cannonballs in the lake, even I got wet. I learned something, dare someone to do something and it shall be done. Yes, I got pulled into the lake...hahaha...It was almost 10 years since I've been swimming. At least I didn't forget how to swim. After all the fun, the bbq was prepared by Chef Wong and team. We also waxed Cliff's legs...He was the only one man enough to do it. After all the excitement, we went stargazing once again. This time, it was much longer. Probably about 40minutes or so. A couple of us were lying down on a picnic blankie on the docks, while some sat in chairs and others just stood. I almost fell asleep out there, the next thing you know, only two people were left. As this was the last nite out, Elaine,Alice, Oli, Dave and myself played cards in the girlz tent. Remember now, the tent was meant for 2 people, possible 3, but all of us were in there playing cards. Of course, we were considerate of those sleeping and tried to keep the noise level down. Had I known, that earplugs were used, snoring,etc... we'd play longer and talk about guys...hahaha.

On Sunday, I wake up and shower as usual and sit by the docks for morning devotion. I noticed that morning, that I saw the neighbor's golden retriever but thought nothing of it. An hour later, she heads over to our cottage and I of course, run for cover. Apparently, the dog woke everyone else up while I jumped into my tent to hide. For that I feel bad..sorry buddies! When everyone was ready to go, we went to Church on an island as well then headed for ice cream. Thxs for the treating me to ice cream, bud! It was soo yummy=) As the boyz went to do some more labour in the afternoon, the girlz and I prepared lunch. After filling our tummies, Eddy and Shirley came by as well for the afternoon fun. We all sat by the docks and had fun. I got pushed into the water this time, it was all good fun. As Dave tried to help me out of the water as he was the one who got me in there, Julian snuck up behind him and pushed him in as well, not knowingly, that he had his glasses on. So, when he fell in, so did I, as I wasn't quite out of the waters yet. Basically, the group of us spent hours looking for his glasses in the lake. Julian found the glasses and even got a kiss from boatbabe. Iwas so happy that the glasses were found=)

This basically concludes my cottage adventure for the weekend. There are pics on various websites and videos of cannonballs, bonnie oooooooops in the lake, and interpretative dancing, plus square dancing. I really learned about a lot of people at the retreat. Things, I didn't know before that's for sure. We all have new BFFs and grew closer to each other during the retreat and to God.
