Month of April in one scoop.
Wow, April 2009, went by at the blink of an eye. I remember talking to a friend about how stressful it has been these past few months and he had suggested I go on a vacation, even if it's a weekend get away. So when the opportunity came, my friends and i went to Washington, DC for the Easter long weekend. For me this is very spontaneous...I haven't travelled out of the country since my mission trip to Nicaragua. None the less, I enjoyed my time in Washington, though it was very brief. Saw a few museums, went out to a nice place for dinner Saturday night, called Acadia. Hotel was very nice, and hospitable...and also got a couple good workouts at the hotel. I enjoyed the company of my friends and just being able to chill and relax...only downside, got quite the number of phone calls from Canada.
On another weekend, a friend of mine suggested I go up for a visit up in Bracebridge, and since I've never been up north, it'd be a good weekend getaway for me. I will admit I was afraid at first since I've never driven up north, less alone 2hrs 17min. I did enjoy the scenery on my way up and no, I did not hit any animals. The first night I arrived, it was very sunny and warm. Dropped off some stuff at the construction site and went over to the High School. The highlights of the weekend to make this reading a bit shorter is the wonderful waterfalls up here in Bracebridge. The trails are nice and everyone is very friendly, reminds me of Burlington. Marty's cafe has really great Butter tarts, no joke:) A bit pricey, but really good. They even have fresh flowers placed at every table, very cozy. It was really weird weather though, it rained and stopped, then downpoured. Luckily, it downpoured while we were inside the cafe, so we tried to wait out the storm. Helped make dinner "Tom yum soup" very delicious, it was my first time making it and eating it. It was the most relaxing weekend I've had in a very long time...just cooking, eating together, watching tv, relaxing, napping at the waterfalls, it was just breathless. Their church was very friendly also...I don't remember the name of it, except it was a Pentecostal Church. I still remember some of the people I met that day. I'm glad I went up to BB and hopefully will have the opportunity to go back in the fall when the leaves turn.
